About 3/32 Drill Bits

3/32 drill bits for salon e-files

Every bit on this page has a 3/32 inch shank, the end that seats into the handpiece, so check what your machine's collet takes before you order. The brands here are A.C.T., Startool, and our own iNAIL SUPPLY line, and the page covers carbide bits, diamond and sanding bits, and mandrel bits.

Which bit does what

Carbide bits are cut with flutes and do the bulk work of taking product down, with the flute pattern and the grit deciding how fast they cut. Diamond bits such as the iNS Diamond Sanding Bit 3/32 carry grit bonded to the head and suit finer shaping and detail work. Mandrel bits such as the ACT Mandrel Bit 3/32 and the iNS 3mm Mini Mandrel Bit are not cutting bits at all: they hold sanding bands, which get replaced rather than resharpened. Combination bits like the Rainbow 5 in 1 3/32 put several shapes on one bit for techs who would rather not swap mid-service.

Buying for a busy station

Bits wear with use, so it is usually better to keep duplicates of the one or two shapes your techs reach for constantly than one of everything. Match the bits to the drill you run, browse the full drill bits range if you need another shank size, and keep hand files and buffers stocked for finishing work off the machine. Our nail file grit guide covers what the grit numbers on hand files mean.
