- A cloudy or hazy ring around the seam once everything has set.
- The tip floating or sliding under pressure instead of grabbing.
- A seam that looks set on the surface but gives way later, because the center of a thick layer stayed soft.
- Enough bulk at the seam that you have to file a trench to blend it, which thins the tip exactly where it needs strength. This search phrase hides a mix-up worth clearing up. Adhesive does not bond acrylic product to the nail. Glue has two real jobs in an acrylic service. The first is attaching a tip before the overlay goes on, when you are doing tip-and-overlay rather than sculpting on a form. Gel adhesive for soft gel tips stays workable until you cure it under a lamp. Because a soft gel tip is full-coverage and sits on the entire plate, you need the freedom to seat it, check the sidewalls, check the apex, and reposition before anything locks. The lamp is the trigger, so you control when the set happens. That is the whole reason the systems use it. Practical consequences: do not substitute cyanoacrylate where a soft gel system calls for its own gel adhesive, do not skip the lamp on a gel adhesive and expect it to set in air, and do not assume one brand's tip and another brand's adhesive were designed to work together. Storage: keeping a bottle from seizing

- Cap it immediately after each use, and cap it fully. A cap that is only most of the way on is the same as no cap.
